How to use Gizmatar

Gizmatar is a simple Applescript application for Mac OS X 10.4 and higher that allows you to easily add custom avatars to the Gizmo Project. My sincere hope is that the Gizmo Project developers will soon add a built-in way to add your own avatars, but, until they do, this little app will take care of your needs.

All you have to do is drag one or more image files and drop them onto the Gizmatar icon and each image will be scaled and padded to the proper dimension(64px by 64px), then copied into the proper folder which is hidden inside the the Gizmo Project application bundle. After you do this, start Gizmo Project up and the new avatars will be available as options to choose from.

To make this as easy as possible to use, I recommend you add it to your Dock while adding the avatars, so you have an easily accessible place to drag and drop the image files to.

Why?

Due to the fact that each new update of Gizmo Project has been a complete app, and not a mere patch or upgrade, I was having to manually add my avatar every time a new update came out. I decided to write this app to save myself the hassle. I figured that I may as well add a few features(auto image resizing and multiple image capabilities) and pretty it up a bit, though, so that others could use this as well. I hope it saves you some time and makes life with Gizmo a little easier!

If you find that this saves you some time, or opens up the possibility to add avatars if you didn't know it was possible to do so manually, feel free to donate $1 to my Paypal account:

Thanks and enjoy!
